A significant Historical Flag Ceremony was successfully conducted by RSNB-GiE in Canberra as part of the peaceful gathering.
Through a symbolic sequence of flags, the ceremony presented different historical periods associated with North Borneo; from the Brunei era, through Chartered Company administration, the Japanese occupation and British administration, to the Malaysia period.
The ceremony concluded with the lowering of the Malaysian flag and the raising of the Sabah flag, representing the political aspiration expressed by RSNB-GiE.
The entire ceremony was conducted peacefully, respectfully and with remembrance for the generations who lived through the different chapters of North Borneo's history.
From history, we remembered.
Through remembrance, we reflected.
And with the raising of the Sabah flag, the ceremony came to its conclusion.
Mr Ray Chalmer Jefferson, Minister of Justice and International Law of the Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile (RSNB-GiE), presented the historical narratives associated with the flags.
The Historical Flag Ceremony was participated in by Ministers and Deputy Ministers of the Republic of Sabah North Borneo Government-in-Exile (RSNB-GiE), with each participant assigned a specific role in raising and lowering the respective historical flags. The flag movements were accompanied by historical narratives presented by Mr Ray Chalmer Jefferson and Ms Dorothy Richard.
